Hull vs Stoke

Hull CityStoke CityHull City had bright start of their English Premier campaign, but as the season comes to an end, they are closer and closer to relegation battle. Their current form is awful, and with one win in 19 Premier League games, they are now only 3 points above relegation threatened Newcastle and Middlesbrough.

Recent form looks even worse for the Tigers. All they managed to do in last 6 games was goalless draw against Portsmouth, after which they lost all 4 league games.

Stoke City are still not safe from relegation, but their chances look much better than their today rivals. Magic 40-points needed for survival in Premier League could be almost achieved if they had better luck in their recent defeats against West Ham and Fulham, but if they perform well today and grab all 3 points against Hull, they would be theoretically safe. After today’s match against Hull, they have home game against Wigan and away match at Arsenal.

Recent history between these two sides is quite interesting. Neither of these two sides managed to win home fixture in last 4 seasons, and most of these games finished in 1-1 draws – last 4 consecutive matches.

Team news

For this match Hull are without suspended striker Caleb Folan and injured skipper Ian Ashbee, while striker Craig Fagan and forward Benrard Mendy are back after injuries.

Stoke could be without James Beattie and Liam Lawrence today, but they are still not ruled out.

Betting verdict

There is no doubt that Tigers manager Phil Brown will do his best to motivate his players for this match, in probably their most important game this season. Three points is a must for them today, as they surely don’t want to save their Premiership status in their last match of the season against Manchester United. On the other hand, Hull struggled all this season at home, and managed to win only 3 home games out of 17, which makes them the weakest hosts in the league.

Stoke are not the strongest travelers in league, but they look much better than Hull at the moment. They will be surely satisfied if they go home with 1 point today, but I think that they have good chances to grab all three points and stay clear of relegation troubles.
