Newcastle United vs Cardiff City

Friday, 05 February 2010 07:56

Newcastle UnitedNewcastle United are unbeaten in last 16 games at St James' Park and will look forward to extend that run when they clash tonight with promotion chasing Cardiff City. Both sides are on nice run lately, but Blue Birds from Cardiff maybe look more dangerous at the moment. They were banging goals for fun in both league and FA Cup, while Newcastle are still involved in low scoring games, but they’re still making steady progress with their 1-0 wins.

Newcastle were active in transfer window and although they didn’t bring in any sensational signing, they have depth in all departments now. Leon Best they brought from Coventry could make his debut tonight, while Danny Simpson and Shola Ameobi should be fit and are set to return to the squad.

In-form Cardiff will be without two important players, as both Gavin Rae and Joe Ledley are out injured.

Former Newcastle striker Michael Chopra has been struggling to find goals for a while, but after scoring in their last two consecutive games against Bristol City and Doncaster, he will be danger for his boyhood  team he left in 2006/07.

Michael Chopra is priced 7/1 at Ladbrokes to score first tonight, while Newcastle leading scorer Kevin Nolan is 7.50 at Paddy Power to be the first goal scorer.

Straight home win for Newcastle is only 1.96 at the moment at Canbet, which looks way too low considering fantastic form of their guest tonight, while there is surely some value on Stan James’ 4.50 on Cardiff tonight.
